The Vereda Farm in San Marcos receives one of the most prestigious awards, the Porc D´Or.
The IRTA created the Porc d´Or awards in the year 1994 with the goal of recognising the work made by companies and pig farms who thanks to their high professional spirit, effort as well as use of the best production techniques, are capable of facing the new challenges constantly appearing during the development of this activity. They are the real leaders within the Spanish Pig Industry.
For the first time, the Magrama Porc d´Or moves to the Region of Valencia and more specifically to the Vereda de San Marcos Farm, which belongs to the Agroturia – Valle Companys Group.
In the XXII Edition of the prestigious Porc d´Or Awards to the excellence within the pig production field, the Vereda de San Marcos Farm, belonging to the Agroturia – Vall Companys Group and located in the village of Utiel (Valencia), received the special Magrama Porc d´Or award, an award that shows the farm excellent features in terms of “Health, Animal Welfare and Environment”. The award was given by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment, Mrs. Isabel Garcia Tejerina.
The Vereda de San Marcos Farm began its activity in the year 2010 and today, it has a census of 2.500 breeding sows. Among the most outstanding features of the Vereda de San Marcos farm, the organisation underlines that during the construction period “every single detail regarding the location and bio-security level was considered with the purpose of working according to the best health conditions possible”.
The same way, they used the biomass coming from the almond fields growing in the region to heat the farm. The company has also followed the same philosophy regarding bio-security, hygiene, welfare and environment regarding breeding sows, as well as transition and fattening pigs.
