Each room has a set of farrowing crates located in row or in battery, where the sow gives birth, after the birth, it coincides with its litter until the weaning period. The sow is kept in a metal crate whereas the piglets may access freely to the entire space of the crate. The crate is designed to create two different climate control spaces for the sow and the piglets. The sow has its own individual feeder and drinker and the piglets a heating plate or any other kind of heating device aiming at their comfort as well as also eventually a feeder and a drinker.
